Wild Life

So, put your hiking boots on! Let’s go the green way.

Experience the vividness of Kerala wildlife odyssey through Expressions Kerala Tours. Kerala’s flora and fauna are uniquely rich, vast, and varied. Nestled in the luxuriant forests of the Western Ghats, the evergreen forests of Kerala serve as haven for many exotic animals. The lush tropical evergreen rain forests still largely miraculously unspoiled in Kerala, support a rich array of land, marine and avian wildlife .These Kerala Forest Reserves and Wildlife Sanctuaries can be an experience of a lifetime. A surprise to see the rare wildlife creatures in their natural surroundings will be in store at every corner. Be one with nature. Hitchhike on a tusker. See wildlife through their eyes.

Watch as the young elephant calves play to their hearts content while the mature once battle it out to be gain supremacy on the herd. Sometimes a tiger may catch you by total surprise. A slow moving sloth bear may go about its daily business, unmindful of the watching eye. An otter pops in and out of water. A Lion-Tailed Macaque might hide among the canopies. Catch glimpses of the Malabar Giant Squirrel dashing through the branches mammoth rosewood trees. See the spectacular Nilgiri Tahr conquering dizzying heights. Admire the Giant Atlas Moth, one of the largest of its kind. And if lady luck be on our side, we will see rare birds like the Great Indian Hornbill and the Black Woodpecker. Besides the wild animals one can also see different varieties of birds like woodpeckers, Malabar cormorants, darters, hornbills, kingfishers, plovers, and brahminy kite.

Many of the places we visit are in the spectacular Kerala National Parks and wildlife reserves of the sub-region, where unsurpassed scenery, an unrivalled diversity of life. Large trees flourishes in the protected areas. In Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala has the Asia’s largest tree, a towering teak of 40m height and 6.4m girth stands here as a testimony to the nature’s bizarre creativity. Once in twelve years, Eravikulam in Kerala is covered in a carpet of Neelakurunji flowers that can be described best as a ‘prelude to heaven’. The vegetation in these destinations is so dense White pine, Teak, and Rosewood paint the reserve with a dense green tinge.

If you feel that this was not enough, then quench your thirst for wildlife with many more Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks. With the growth in the tourism industry, newer arenas like Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Periyar Tiger reserve, will give tourists a greater chance to see wildlife form close quarters.
